Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Intervals
There are five different fire extinguisher classes. Each class tells you what kind of chemical agent it contains.
- Class A is for combustibles such as, trash, wood, paper and uses ABC dry chemical, water, foam, or clean agent.
- Class B is used for flammable liquids and uses ABC dry chemical, BC dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide, or clean agent.
- Class C is used for live electrical equipment and uses ABC dry chemical, BC dry chemical, carbon dioxide.
- Class D is used for combustible metals such as magnesium, titanium, and sodium and uses Metal X powder.
- Class K is for cooking fats and oils and uses a wet chemical similar to the fire suppression systems agent.
